Common problem associated with "Frost Free" fridges. Generally this is caused by a faulty component in the defrost circuit, preventing a complete defrost of the cold bit in the freezer. A fan pushes air around inside the freezer and a tiny portion of this "freezing air" is ducted into the fridge. If the cold bit in the freezer is choked with ice, air can not pass through, hence the fridge is the first compartment to warm up. Also frost may be visible on walls, shelves, product, grills inside the freezer. Frost is an enemy to frost free fridges, they like to be free of frost. Other causes are doors left open, over filled fridge/freezer, loose wrapping or plastic bags blocking vents and controls accidently knocked to a warmer position. When I come out to diagnose a fridge with this complaint I like the fridge left running so I can search for frost. If the fridge is turned off for 24hrs with both doors left open the frost will melt, then your fridge will work normally for 2-3 weeks, until the ice builds up again.

This advice is general in nature. Thank you.

Door seals on fridges need to be in reasonable condition. But before you replace them consider how old the fridge is. If it is 15yrs+ just have existing seals repaired, spending money on new seals for an old fridge is a waste. However for a fridge 3-7yrs it might be a wise choice, saving money on power bills. Carefully inspect bottom door hinge, if it is sunken into the door insulat...ion, not only can it wreck the seal, but the door may fall off. This is due to too many heavy things stored in the door. Also you may notice the door not closing by itself. This is due to either fridge front feet not set up correctly or a sunken/collapsed door hinge. Replacing a seal won't fix a broken hinge, and new doors don"t come cheap

There are several ways but I've found the cheapest, easiest is to take temperature readings. At the indoor unit take a reading where air is entering aircon, and one directly where air is leaving aircon. The difference should be 12 to 14 degrees celcius with high fan speed, cool set on 16 (lowest setting) after 10 to 20 min. Alternatively, 18 to 20 high fan and heat set on 30 (highest setting), 10 to 20 min. These temperature differences are minimum requirements, if they are greater - that's ok. If less, this indicates a problem with your aircon, possibly short of gas, faulty fan motor or sensor etc.

* Van must be level, side to side and front to back.

Remove outside vents. Packed too tightly with food stuff. Do other gas appliances work in the van?

Gas is the best cycle to operate fridge, is the stack warm/hot at the back?

Are there indicating lights on the front, ie flashing = trouble, solid = working?

Can you see the flame? Is i...t yellow (hot) or blue/yellow (hottest)?

Thermostat setting, all the way clockwise is the coldest.

Combined hot weather and humidity (Darwin) are biggest enemies to 3 way fridges. Is food/drink temperature same as air temperature or is the food colder?

Use a thermometer with a remote sensor so you don't have to open the door to take a reading.

Is the thermometer lying? Check temp of ice water, should be 1 - 0 degrees C.

Change out both bottles of propane on the front of the trailer.Has the heat sink fallen off wire hanging inside exhaust stack?

Are heater elements open circuited?

Is thermostat open circuited? Replace thermostat, wire up only 240v circuit through t’stat not 12v circuit. Re-route 12v circuit through selector switch, not t’stat. Is it difficult to light the oven pilot?

Is there spewing stuff in the LPG line? Change propane regulator.Check regulator pressure and adjust if necessary. (11.5 inches of water)

Clean burner and orifice. Wire on terminal block to flame sensor at the burner, connector in the terminal block was broken.

Loose wires.
